Let me tell you what 1) **happened** (happen) to me this afternoon. I 2) **checked** (check) the weather forecast before I 3) **left** (leave) the house, but it 4) **turned** (turn) out there was a thunderstorm. While I 5) **didn't say** (not/say) anything about a walk to the bus stop, the sky 6) **got** (get) darker and darker, and I 7) **could hear** (can/hear) thunder. Suddenly, a flash of lightning 8) **hit** (hit) the ground right in front of me! I was so scared! Luckily, 9) **I had read** (read) about lightning all that morning for a test, and I 10) **knew** (know) that I had to get indoors quickly. I 11) **saw** (see) a shop, and I 12) **ran** (run) inside.
